Summary: The first sculpture acquired for the Memorial's art collection. The figure represents the ideal Australian soldier at Gallipoli, leaning against a broken gun carriage, with his foot placed on a Turkish flag. Clay version made in 1925, plaster made in 1926 and purchased by the Memorial, then cast into bronze in Melbourne in 1927.
