| Summary: | Group portrait of three people standing in front of an unknown ferry terminal (possibly Manly). Identified from left to right: Lennard Dal, 18 Squadron, Netherlands East Indies (NEI), RAAF; Jean Agnew; and Gus Winckel, 18 Squadron, Netherlands East Indies (NEI), RAAF. A number of Dutch airmen and ground crews escaped to Australia after the Japanese invaded the Netherlands East Indies in 1942 and this group became the nucleus for 18 Squadron (NEI) RAAF which flew B25 Mitchell bombers during the Second World War. These men are wearing blue RAAF uniforms but have retained their Dutch insignia. Lennard Dal was later shot down. | ||
