There are 5 tickets, each a different colour, and each for a different amount of petrol: 1 gallon, 2 gallons, 5 gallons, 10 gallons, and 100 gallons. The tickets are 'For Essential Civilian Purposes only valid only for 14 days from the date of issue as shown hereon.' The tickets are in a small brown envelope. Handwritten on the envelope is 'Samples of special emergency type Ration Tickets prepared for the distribution in the event of an actual or imminent invasion of Australia. Used for a short period only in restricted area of North Queensland, Cairns and Townsville Districts.' |
