Physical description: Cardboard; Paper; Tobacco; Pack of ten "Wild Woodbine" cigarettes in the standard pale green and russet pack as issued from 1888. Front of pack is decorated with Arts and Crafts motifs and the maker's name. Reverse cites an award won by the company accompanied by a "genuine package" guarantee. The right side of the pack carries the registered trade mark information, while the left side carries the words "10 cigarettes". The bottom of the box is damaged and the rear torn. All ten filterless cigarettes are present.
Summary: Carried by NX3539 Major Albert Edward Bamgarten, when he was hit by enemy gunfire in the Middle East campaigns. Born on 23 December 1907, Bamgarten enlisted on 23 October 1939 and was posted to 2nd Field Company, Royal Australian Engineers, 9 Division with whom he served in Libya, and after recovering from his wounds, in the Tarakan campaign. He was discharged on 12 December 1945.
