Physical description: Chaff bag; Damask fabric; Apron with bib front, made from a chaff bag dyed yellow. Bib, strings, hem and pocket edge are made from red damask curtain fabric scraps. Both the neck band and ties of the apron have been folded over before sewing to provide strength. The pocket on the front of the apron is divided down the centre. A piece of brown paper sewn to the apron reads "Kitchen apron used by housewives no couples made from chaff bag colour piece old damask. Queensland".
Summary: Part of an exhibition mounted by the Country Women's Association of Queensland in Brisbane in 1943, demonstrating household items that could be made from material readily available without coupons.
