- Group portrait of four artillery drivers, two of whom are eating, at their shelter during the Somme offensive. The soldier far right might possibly be Lieutenant Frederick George Fitzpatrick of Heyfield, Vic (far right); all others are unidentified. Fitzpatrick left Australia with the 5th Battalion and returned to Australia as a member of the 3rd BattalionThe gunner on the left has two postcards or photographs propped in front of his boots, and a trench biscuit balanced on his knee. Cooking utensils and stores are lined up along the edge of the 'roof', which is covered with vegetation for camouflage purposes.
