Description
Collection of personal papers relating mainly to Matron Vivian Bullwinkel's prisoner of war experience during the Second World War. The papers include diary entries written on scraps of paper, mainly covering January and February 1942, in Singapore; notebook; letters; loose pages of duplicate diary entries; sketches, recipes and a handwritten draft of a letter from Matron Bullwinkel to the Governor of Sumatra. The collection also includes material relating to Bullwinkel's postwar career which included work with the Red Cross and ex-service, nursing and other voluntary organisations.
