- On the night of 14 December 1943, a party of American film stars, headed by Gary Cooper, Una Merkel, Phyllis Brooks and Andy Ascari, a well known piano accordionist, entertain hundreds of service personnel including United States Red Cross Nursing Sisters at Amenities Rear Headquarters, Northern Territory Force on the Adelaide River, Northern Territory. Also identified is Warrant Officer First Class Mack.
