| Summary: | Original grave makers in a section of the Allied cemetery in the Anzac area. The second cross from left Lieutenant (Lt) Aubrey John Bickley Sherring, 7th Company, Australian Army Service Corps, a teacher of Goulburn, NSW. Lt Bickley enlisted on 16 September 1914 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Port Macquarie on 21 December 1914. He was killed in action in Anzac Cove on 31 July 1915 aged 29 years. The cross on the right front belongs to 83 Sergeant (Sgt) Gordon Crocker, 8th Battalion, an accountant of Ballarat, Vic. Sgt Crocker enlisted on 24 August 1914 with G Company, and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Benalla on 19 October 1914. He died of wounds in Anzac Cove on 28 July 1915 aged 28 years. The grave marker in the back left belongs to Lt Alfred Bertram Glasson, 8th Battalion, a journalist of Kapunda, SA. Lt Glasson enlisted as a Lance Corporal with F Company on 19 August 1914 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Benalla on 19 October 1914. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 8 August 1915 aged 31 years. | ||
