| Summary: | Portrait of Lieutenant W Hudson Fysh of 1 Squadron, Australian Flying Corps, standing in front of his Nieuport Scout aircraft. While serving as an observer with 1 Squadron in the Middle East during the First World War, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross; after the war he was allowed to qualify as a pilot (the period during which this photograph was taken). Lieutenant Fysh later went on to become the founder of Qantas and received his knighthood in 1953. | ||
