| Summary: | North Korea, c. 1950-11. Carrying weapons and trenching tools, members of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), make their way along the edge of a paddy field as they form part of a long line of 3RAR troops on the move. The line extends across the fields in the distance, with large hills rising in the background. The soldier in the lead (right) is carrying an Owen submachine gun and has a water bottle hanging around his neck. The two soldiers behind him are carrying .303 rifles and spades. All of the men are wearing windproof jackets and pile caps as protection against the cold. (Donor I. Robertson) | ||
