| Summary: | Sergeant (Sgt) Denis Percy (left), and two other unidentified Australian policemen, meet with a Turkish major in the village of Polamedia. Sgt Percy, a police officer from NSW, served in Cyprus with the United Nations Civilian Police (UNCIVPOL), attached to the United Nations Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP). Behind them is an Australian Land Rover, registration 70EL08, painted white, with kangaroos and United Nations markings. UNFICYP was established in 1964, to try to prevent further violence between the Greek and Turkish communities in Cyprus. | ||
