- John 'Paddy' Kenneally and Rufino Alves 'Evaresto' Correia, both Second World War veterans, clasp hands in Dili, East Timor. NX77689 Corporal Kenneally was a member of the 2/2nd Independent Company that mounted a guerrilla campaign to defend Timor against Japanese occupation during the Second World War. Correia was one of the Timorese 'criados' who assisted Australian commandos by carrying equipment and provisions and assisting their navigation around the mountainous terrain of the island.
